RGH Perioperative Suite

DGA’s Role: Construction Manager

Completion: 2014

The goal of this multi-phased renovation of a significant portion of the hospital’s second floor was to provide better patient access and clinical space.
In Phase I, DGA Builders relocated the Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) department to an area previously occupied by the CATH department. The project included multi-phase abatement and interior renovation of 9,300 SF to create holding beds, staff support space, and new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure, including a dedicated AHU.

Phase II of this project was a 10,200 SF interior renovation of the vacated are during the relocation of Phase I. The project created 12 state-of-the-art short-stay units that include modular headwalls, European showers, medicine infrastructure and hardware, increased natural light, and enhanced visitor/support spaces in each patient room and shared space. The work included abatement, replacement of an air handling unit in the eighth floor penthouse, and the gut and replacement of the MEP infrastructure supporting the unit.

DGA worked closely with RGH staff and the Construction Services Department to ensure staff had minimal disruptions. The highest level of patient care and safety was maintained throughout construction.
